How To

How to make a perfect Omelette

Omelets are one of my favorite foods to eat at breakfast. But how do you create them perfectly? There are many recipes and methods I tried, but none worked. So today, I want to share some tips and tricks with you so you can make your own delicious and fluffy omelets every morning.

Before we start making omelets, let's remember that eggs are temperamental. It is important that eggs are fresh from an organic market and kept cool until used. They must be kept cool, otherwise the whites will not form properly and the yolks may become runny. This will make your omelets appear strangely colored. If you want to make omelets right away, it's best not to use eggs that are too cold.

Another tip is to separate the egg before adding it to the pan. It is important not to allow any white to mix with the yolk as this could lead to the omelet becoming curdled.

You might burn the bottom of the egg if you place the egg directly on the stovetop. This could ruin the texture of your omelet. Instead, heat the egg for 10 seconds in the microwave before placing it in the pan. The microwave heat will cook the egg just right without making it too hot.

Next, let's talk about mixing the eggs. When you mix eggs together, you want to beat them well. You can do this by turning the bowl of your mixer upside down. Now shake the bowl vigorously. The egg will be thoroughly mixed in the bowl as the air is whipped.

Now comes the fun part: adding the milk to your mixture. Fold the eggs in the milk mixture by first pouring half of it into the egg whites. Do not be alarmed if there are still egg streaks visible. Once the omelet flips, these streaks will disappear.

After you have done folding the eggs, heat the pan on medium heat. The oil will start to smoke. Once the oil begins to heat, add 1/4 cup butter and swirl the pan to coat it. Open the lid and sprinkle salt on the pan. An additional pinch of salt will prevent the omelet form sticking to your pan.

Once the omelet has formed completely, cover the pan and let it set for a few minutes. Flip the omelet upside down or with a spatula. Cook the other half for another minute. Serve immediately after removing the omelet from its pan.

This recipe is best when used with whole milk. But, you can use skimmed milk as well.
